INGREDIENTS

Urad Dal ( Lentils ) – 2 Cups
Soak for 6 Hours
Curd/ Yogurt – 1000 ml
Oil for Frying Vada – As Needed

Ingredients for Tempering

Oil- 6 Tsp
Mustard Seeds – 2 Tsp
Cumin Seeds – 2 Tsp
Urad Dal – 3 Tsp
Chopped Green Chilis– 5
Red Chilis – 8
Curry Leaves – 20
Chopped Ginger – 2 Inches
Salt as needed
Turmeric – 1 Tsp

Corinader – Half hand full for presentation

Dahi Vada or Dahi Bhalle is a famous snack from India and is also one of the festival favorite snacks. Dahi Vada /Perugu Vada is a famous side dish that you can enjoy anytime. Dahi means Yougurt/Curd. Vada means Deep fried flour Donuts made of lentils. Dahi Vada is made with lentils (Urad Dal) soaked for around 6 hrs and is grinded to a thick paste. These Lentils paste with salt added to it is made to round shape and fried in oil. Tempering is then made with Oil, Curry Leaves, Cumin Seeds, Mustard Seeds, Red chills, Chopped Ginger, salt, chopped Green Chilies, Turmeric and Chopped coriander Leaves and added to the Yogurt. The Fried Vada is then added to the tempering mixed in yogurt. These Dahi Vada if well-made are so soft and have a melt in the mouth texture.
